DAVAO CITY, Philippines – The Davao Light and Power Company (DLPC) said the entire city will be experiencing 3 to 4 hours of rotational power outages starting Thursday, July 30, because of a reported shortage in supply.
DLPC said that it could not project when the rotational power outages would end because this would depend on the availability of supply on the Mindanao grid.
“Due to the continuous reduction of power supply from the generating plants, Davao Light will be implementing 3 to 4 hours rotating power interruptions starting today, July 30, and until the supply situation improves,” DLPC posted in an advisory.
Since May the power firm had implemented rotational power interruption for at least an hour. On July 21, it started extending the periods to two hours each time.
DLPC, an Aboitiz subsidiary, sought understanding from its consumers and appealed to everyone to utilize well the available power supply.
“Davao Light apologizes to its customers for the inconvenience that these service disruptions may have caused them. It also encourages everyone to be prudent in the use of energy to help minimize the effects of the current power situation,” DLPC said.
