#MarioPH causes power outages in Luzon

MANILA, Philippines – Strong winds and heavy rain brought by tropical storm Mario (Fung-Wong) toppled down electricity lines and caused extensive flooding, leading to power outages in several areas in Luzon.

As of 11 am on Friday, September 19, Manila Electric Company (Meralco) tweeted a list of areas in Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon with power outages due to flooding:

Metro Manila

• Manila: Tondo (Gagalangin), Tondo Proper (Bao, C-2, F.Yuseco, Gen. Lukban, Juan Luna, Raxabago, and Solis)
• Marikina: Concepcion I, Malanday, Nangka
• Quezon City: San Francisco del Monte (Damayan, Mariblo, Masambong, Paraiso, Sto. Domingo, Talayan), Balintawak, Kamuning, La Loma, Lourdes, Salvacion, New Manila, Tatalon, Pugad Lawin, San Antonio, San Jose (Balingasa, Manresa, San Jose, Sienna)
  
• Valenzuela: Caruhatan, Dalandanan, Malinta, Marulas, Maysan, Poblacion, Veinte Reales; Pag-Asa, Serrano, Silangan Park, Arty, Manotok, T. Manuel, Elysian, Skyline, and Sta Lucia Subdivisions; and Upper Serrano and Don Pedro Village.

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines also reported power interruptions in several Luzon provinces due to tripped transmission lines.

There are also areas in Kalinga and Zambales provinces without power, but were not specified.

Meanwhile, the NGCP said that power has been restored in parts of Camarines Sur,  after it re-energized the Naga-Libmanan 69kV line.

“Initial reports indicate that the outage was caused by a branch of a tree that hita part of the Naga-Libmanan 69kV Transmission Line which is already owned by CASURECO,” NGCP said in a tweet.
