Power restored in #MarioPH-hit areas – NGCP
Outages experienced in some parts of Metro Manila are no longer related to the tropical storm's aftermath, Meralco says

MANILA, Philippines Power has been restored in many parts of Luzon after tropical storm Mario (Fung-Wong) brought strong winds that toppled transmission lines and electric posts last Friday, September 19.

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said they have completed restoring damaged transmission lines and substations of the grid operator since 5:37 pm on Sunday, September 21.

In a statement, NGCP said the following transmission facilities have been restored:

  • Bauang-La Trinidad 230-kilovolt (kV) line
  • Magapit-Sta. Ana 69-kV line
  • Bauang-San Fernando 69-kV line
  • Bacnotan-Bulala 69-kV line
  • Bantay-Sto. Domingo 69-kV
  • Labrador-Bolinao 69-kV line
  • San Esteban-Narvacan 69-kV line
  • Bauang-VOA 115-kV line
  • San Esteban-Bangued 69-kV line
  • La Trinidad-Bulalacao 69-kV line
  • San Esteban-Candon 69-kV line

Not storm-related

Some residents in Metro Manila may still experience outages, but the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) clarified these are no longer related to Mario’s aftermath.

“We have restored power to all our customers affected by tropical storm Mario. Those are probably no longer related to the typhoon,” Meralco spokesperson Joe Zaldarriaga told Rappler.

Zaldarriaga said current power interruptions are due to maintenance and upgrading of Meralco’s facilities which are “pre-arranged or scheduled ahead of time.”

Since Sunday, Meralco began relocating its facilities along Doña Julia Vargas St. in Ortigas in Pasig City, causing power interruptions in surrounding areas up to 5 hours until Monday, September 22. – Rappler.com
