Max’s Group to bring Pancake House to Qatar
This move will further expand the group's presence in the Middle East

MANILA, Philippines – Max’s Group, Incorporated, the largest casual dining company in the country, signed a deal to bring one of its leading restaurant brands, Pancake House, to Qatar – a move that will further expand the group’s presence in the Middle East.

In a disclosure to the stock exchange, Max’s Group said it recently signed a development agreement with Hamad & Sons General Trading Group to build a minimum of 5 Pancake House stores in Qatar.

“We are excited to bring another loved brand to Qatar. Our first Max’s Restaurant in Al Saad registered record-breaking sales and remains one of our best performing overseas stores,” Max’s Group president and CEO Robert Trota said in a statement.

“We are optimistic in replicating that success with Pancake House, which will cater not only to the local Filipino diaspora but the mainstream market,” Trota added.

“We are also confident with our partnership with Hamad & Sons General Trading Group, a well-established Middle Eastern food retailer, to introduce our concept to the Qataris,” Trota said.

This is the second development agreement signed by the restaurant chain operator for 2016.

In January, it forged a deal to put up 15 Yellow Cab Pizza stores in China within 5 years.

To date, Max’s Group has inked 7 development contracts with a firm commitment of over 50 stores across Max’s Restaurant, Pancake House, Yellow Cab Pizza, and Sizzlin’ Steak.

On top of its existing 35 outlets, this translates to an international pipeline of at least 85 stores.

“Our international business continues to gain momentum. So far, we are on track to meet our target of 200 stores abroad by 2020, or perhaps even earlier,” Trota said.

Max’s Group International CEO Peter King said the group continues to receive strong inquiries from various foreign groups.

“We are encouraged by the strong interest to export our brands. For this year, we are aggressively eyeing more territories,” King said.

‘Excited’ partner

Founded in 2008 and headquartered in Doha, Qatar, Hamad & Sons General Trading Group is a food and beverage company that has brought in unique brands from around the world.

The company is the master franchisee of Papparoti Café in Qatar.

“We look forward to bringing the most popular casual dining restaurant brand in the Philippines to Qatar, a pioneer in the pancakes and waffle dining concept with focus on comfort food like fried chicken, fish, tacos, pastas, and spaghetti,” Hamad Al-Dosari, executive president of Hamad & Sons General Trading Group, said in a statement.

“We know that this culinary delight will work well in Qatar, which hosts a large Filipino community; Pancake House will be a big hit with a chance to present it to other diverse nationalities living in Doha. We believe that the brand will quickly be rated among top restaurants for its adaptable food profile, upmarket dining and overall experience,” Dosari added.

At present, Pancake House operates 130 branches, including 7 franchised stores in Malaysia and Brunei. – Rappler.com
