Table Group launches Wingstop, to bring more F&B brands in PH
UPDATE: As of October 2018, Wingstop Philippines has stopped its operations.

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Wingstop Philippines, a franchise of the US-based chicken wing restaurant, officially stopped its operations in October 2018, the group’s communications team said in an advisory on Friday, April 5.

Wingstop was launched in the Philippines on April 16, 2015, by the Table Group, the company responsible for the presence of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (CBTL) in the Philippines.

Wingstop then became the newest addition to the Table Group’s line of foreign food and beverage (F&B) offering in the country.

Walden Chu, president of Table Group, said in an interview on the sidelines of the Wingstop launch in 2015 that the company planned to bring in more F&B brands in the Philippines, buoyed by the growth of property and retail sectors.

Chu said Table Group’s company’s franchise for the chicken wing restaurant required the establishment of 50 stores nationwide in 6 years starting 2014.

Table Group opened 9 Wingstop stores at a cost of P100 million ($2.25 million) and was set to open 7 more within 2015, at a cost ranging from P5 million ($112,595.09) to P10 million ($225,197.25) per store.

Chu said all Wingstop stores are all company-owned but will consider sub-franchising in the future.

As for CBTL, Table Group eyes to end 2015 with 100 stores – also all company-owned.

“This way, we have control over quality,” Chu said. To date, there are 71 CBTL stores and 26 more will open for the rest of 2015.

Table Group, majority owned by former GMA Network executive Meinardo Jimenez and PHINMA official Victor del Rosario, also obtained the territory franchise for Cebu Japanese convenience store chain Family Mart.

The firm planned to put up 120 FamilyMart stores in Cebu within 10 years.

Philippine FamilyMart and SSI Group Incorporated opted to franchise out FamilyMart to aggressively expand in the country. – Rappler.com
