MANILA, Philippines – Autre Porte Technique Global Inc. (APT Global), the winning bidder for the maintenance work for the Metro Rail Transit line 3 (MRT-3), should take over starting September 5.

This was according to the notice-to-proceed letter of the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) to APT Global on September 3 and uploaded to the agency’s website Thursday, September 3.

The DOTC directed APT Global’s authorized representative Marlo Dela Cruz “to commence work on September 5, 2013 to September 4, 2014, according to the terms and conditions stipulated in the contract.”

APT Global bested other bidders for the P685,041,298.95-worth interim maintenance provider contract, which is good for one year only.

The contract is temporary because the government intends to buy out the private owners of the MRT3 pursuant to Executive Order (EO) No. 126, which President Benigno S. Aquino III signed last March.

After the planned take over, the DOTC will bid out the operation and maintenance of the mass rail transit. – Rappler.com
