LIST: Limited banking hours due to Typhoon Ruby

MANILA, Philippines – (4th UPDATE) As Ruby (international name: Hagupit) nears the capital, banking operations announced mid-Monday morning, December 8, their limited to suspended operations.

RCBC Savings Bank

RCBC Savings Bank announced that its Metro Manila and South Luzon branches are open only until 12 noon Monday.

“All other branches in other regions will give regular banking hours unless affected by the typhoon,” the bank said.

Security Bank

Security Bank branches in Metro Manila also closed by 12 noon Monday.

“For branches outside Metro Manila, customers may contact their respective branches for banking hours,” the bank said.
 
Security Bank’s  Customer Care Center Hotline, (+63 2) 887-9188 will be available for concerns and inquiries.

Philippine National Bank

Philippine National Bank’s (PNB) Metro Manila branches will also be closed by 12 noon.

Its Virac branch is also open only until 12 noon.

PNB also reported that 37 of its Southern Luzon branches are closed Monday.

PNB’s Cebu branches in Bogo and Bantayan are open until 1 pm.

The following branches in the Samar-Leyte area are open until 2 pm December 8:

• Calbayog
• Catarman
• Catbalogan
• Catbalogan-Del Rosario
• Downtown Tacloban
• Guiuan
• Maasin
• Naval
• Ormoc
• Ormoc-Real
• Palompon
• Tacloban
• Tacloban-Zamora

The PNB Borongan branch in Samar-Leyte area and Boracay in Panay are also closed on Monday.

“Please refer to PNB’s website, www.pnb.com.ph for the full list of branches’ banking hours for today,” PNB advised.

PBCOM

Philippine Bank of Communications (PBCOM) also announced that its Lucena and Naga branches are closed Monday.

“All other PBCOM branches and other banking offices are open for business,” the bank said.

PBCOM’s nationwide ATM network and Customer Care Hotline (+63 2) 77-PBCOM / 77-72266 or Domestic Toll Free 1-800-1077-72266 are also available to service clients.

Maybank Philippines

All Maybank branches in Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, and Legazpi are open until 2 pm today.

“Meanwhile, the rest of the branches are business as usual and ready to serve the banking public except in those areas that have declared non-working holidays,” the bank said.

The bank’s other branches in Taguig like Burgos Circle Branch; South of Market Branch; 32nd Street Branch; and McKinley Hill Branch will be closed on Monday because of Taguig City’s founding anniversary.

Maybank Batangas and Lipa branches are closed in observance of Batangas City’s founding anniversary.

Branches in Calapan, Guagua, Lucena, Naga, Urdaneta, are closed due to Ruby.

“Customers may also do their transactions through M2U, Maybank’s Internet banking service,” the bank said.

BPI

Branches of the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) in areas affected by typhoon Ruby will be closed by 2 pm Monday.

“However, some of these branches may close earlier, depending on local weather conditions,” BPI said.

BPI encouraged that those with urgent over-the-counter transactions to call their branches before proceeding.

Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) will be inoperable until such facilities are restored in areas where telecommunication facilities have been downed by the typhoon.

BPI also encouraged its clients – with power and telecommunications facilities permitting – to use the bank’s online banking platform, bpiexpressonline.com, to carry out their transactions.

“We urge everyone to always take precautionary measures, and prioritize their personal and family’s safety in the face of the typhoon,” the bank said.

Bank clearing and settlement operations were also suspended Monday, according to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

“Following the announcement by Malacañang of work suspension in government offices in Metro Manila, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas said clearing operations for today, December 8, are suspended,” the BSP said in a statement.

BSP also announced that the Retirees Recognition Awarding Ceremony 2014 scheduled on Tuesday, December 9, is postponed due to Tropical Storm Ruby.

The rescheduled date will be announced later, the central  bank said.

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) also suspended trading on Monday, as Typhoon Ruby was set to make a 3rd landfall over the northern part of the Mindoro provinces and make its way to Metro Manila Monday night. – Rappler.com
