Globe revives free Facebook offer starting January 13
The extended promo comes with free Viber offer for its mobile subscribers

MANILA, Philippines – The telecommunications wars continue as Ayala-led Globe Telecom Inc has announced the return of its “Free Facebook” offer, plus  “Free Viber for its subscribers.

The move comes after  the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) extended, starting January 5, its “Free Internet” offer to its Smart, Sun Cellular, and Talk N’ Text customers.

Globe chief operating advisor Peter Bithos announced that the “Free Facebook” promo would resume January 13 together with the “Free Viber” to all subscribers.

“Starting January 13 – and for an entire month – our world-renowned Free Facebook is back. But, this time, we have decided to spice it up a bit.  In the month leading up to Valentine’s Day, we are also offering Free Viber for all Globe customers in the Philippines,” Bithos said.

“Free Facebook” and “Free Viber” have no strings attached – no purchase, promo or registration required, and available to all Globe, mobile, and Tattoo customers, Bithos said.

Bithos added that Globe has been the leader in mobile Internet, 4G, and other digital experiences from Free Facebook to Spotify, and the latest partnership with the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Globe customers need to text FREEFB to 8888 for free for the “Free Facebook” offer, eliminating the need for customers to purchase any data plan to avail of the promo. They only need to register once to enjoy Free Facebook, the telecommunications company said.

“Those who subscribed to Free Facebook previously and did not opt-out do not need to register to the offer,” Globe said in a statement.

“Free Viber” can be accessed by downloading the app on their smartphones.

Globe forged exclusive partnerships with Facebook and Viber in 2013 to offer its customers free access to the leading social networking site and messaging app.

Since then, Globe has seen double-digit growth in its mobile data users as smartphones penetration increase, mobile internet adoption rises, and usage of applications and over-the-top (OTT) services become richer.

Apart from Facebook and Viber, Globe is also offering GoChat10 starting January 13.

With GoChat10, Globe prepaid customers get unlimited texts to Globe/TM plus unlimited access to popular apps such as Facebook Messenger, Line, WhatsApp, WeChat, and Viber all for P10 ($0.22*) and good for a day’s consumption. – Rappler.com
