MANILA, Philippines – The Philippines is hosting the Salon International de l’Agroalimentaire (SIAL) food exhibition in June 2014. SIAL is one of the largest food shows in Southeast Asia.
The exhibition, with the theme “Best-Kept Secret for Food Business in Asia,” is expected to draw 15,000 visitors with their 800 exhibitors.
As one of the events’ sponsors, the Department of Agriculture will be providing an opportunity for agribusinesses to showcase their export products.
“Filipino farmers and fishers – who provide the raw materials for the exporters and processors – stand to benefit from the trade and networking activities that will take place throughout the duration of the four-day affair,” said Leandro Gazmin, Agriculture Agribusiness Marketing Assistance Service (AMAS) director.
He said that “holding it in the Philippines offers a chance for more local participation among local exporters, processors and other
agribusiness players, who could take the opportunity to showcase a wider array of their best products and services – all at lesser logistical costs.”
The exhibit will be held on June 11-14 at the World Trade Center along with the Manila Food and Beverage Expo (MAFBEX).
SIAL was established in Paris in 1964. It also organizes other trade events in countries such as China, the Middle East, Brazil, and Canada. – Rappler.com
