A low pressure area develops into a tropical depression. Storm signal no. 1 is raised over Batanes and Cagayan

MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Transportation and Communications announced the cancellation of some flights due to bad weather Monday, August 26.

A low pressure area monitored east of Dinagat Islands developed into a tropical depression Sunday, August 25 and was named “Nando” by state weather bureau Pagasa.

Storm signal number 1 was raised over Batanes and Cagayan as the weather disturbance, carrying maximun sustained winds of 55 km/hr, moved northwest.

Nando is enhancing the southwest monsoon, bringing light to moderate rain over Southern Luzon and Western Visayas.
