MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) awarded over P61 million worth of contracts for the improvement of 4 airports in Visayas and Mindanao.
In a statement on Friday, October 11, DOTC said it awarded contracts for civil works for Puerto Princessa, Dipolog, Zamboanga and Catarman airports on September 30.
The contracts were awarded to the following firms:
- D.G. Sarmenta Construction – Puerto Princesa Airport; construction of a semi-permanent airport terminal; contract price P21,495,653.43
- Vesa Engineering Construction – Catarman Airport; construction of perimeter fence and asphalt overylay; contract price P7,520,088.88
- V.T. Lao Construction – Dipolog Airport; construction of river protection and runway strip grade correction; contract price P26,695,751.89
- Advance Tech Construction & Trading – Zamboanga Airport; construction of a steel strainer creek de-siltation and de-clogging of box culvert; contract price P5,738,808.80
DOTC spokesman Atty. Michael Arthur Sagcal said construction works are expected to be completed by summer of 2014.
He stressed that the airport projects are being undertaken for the convenience of passengers and in line with the government’s goal of promoting tourism. READ: PH ‘rising star’ in travel and tourism
