Globe files complaint against another text spammer
The complaint against Center for Global Best Practices is the second Globe has filed, following its complaint against Caritas Health Shield

MANILA, Philippines – Globe filed a complaint against seminar and training course provider Center for Global Best Practices (CGBP), saying the company sends out unsolicited text advertisements – known as text spam – on its network.

The complaint is the second Globe has filed, following its complaint against Caritas Health Shield.

In a statement, Globe said it asked the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) to set fines and penalties on the company for spamming subscribers. It also asked the NTC to permanently prevent CGBP, its agents, and employees from sending unsolicited marketing text messages to customers.

Globe sought a cease and desist order against CGBP pending the case’s resolution.

Globe’s General Counsel, Froilan Castelo, said “The complaint we filed against CGBP should serve as a warning to other companies whose agents send irritating spam messages to our customers.”

Castelo added, “Globe Telecom will not tolerate the use of our network for activities that serve as a nuisance to our subscribers especially if they are unsolicited and unwanted.” – Rappler.com
