Maynilad and Manila Water are not allowed to cut off services until August 31

The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System Regulatory Office (MWSS RO) on Friday, August 20, directed water concessionaires in Metro Manila to suspend disconnection activities further until the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) status is lifted.

Maynilad and Manila Water earlier stopped cutting off services of delinquent customer accounts in light of ECQ implemented last August 2 to 20.

MWSS RO further requested local government units to assist Maynilad and Manila Water to conduct their water meter reading activities during the MECQ period to ensure accurate billing.

The COVID-19 Interagency Task Force (IATF) decided to ease the strict lockdown in Metro Manila and Laguna beginning August 21, lowering the status in both areas to MECQ until the end of August.

While lockdown restrictions were eased, dine-in services and beauty salons were still not allowed to operate and religious gatherings are still prohibited. – Rappler.com
