Water concessionaires Manila Water and Maynilad Water Services will suspend disconnection activities in their service areas during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).

On Wednesday, August 4, the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System Regulatory Office (MWSS RO) directed the concessionaires to implement a suspension.

The MWSS RO also asked them to ensure water supply availability during the ECQ period.

Manila Water said it will abide by the MWSS RO directive. Maynilad also posted an advisory on its Facebook page announcing the suspension of service disconnection.

The MWSS RO also appealed to concerned local government units in Metro Manila, Rizal, and Cavite to allow meter readers to continue on-site meter readings and billing operations during the lockdown.

From August 6 to 20, Metro Manila will return to the strictest form of lockdown to prevent the spread of the more virulent COVID-19 Delta variant. – Rappler.com
