Filipina boxing pride Nesthy Petecio is getting perks from carriers Philippine Airlines (PAL) and AirAsia Philippines.
On Tuesday, August 3, Petecio made history as the first Filipina boxer to win an Olympic medal.
She will get 60,000 Mabuhay flight miles from PAL per year, for life.
“Your silver win showed the heart of a strong Filipina to the world! Thank you for making the country proud,” the flag carrier said in a Facebook post.
Aside from PAL, AirAsia is gifting Petecio unlimited flights for five years. Other Filipino athletes who will bag a silver will also get the same gift from AirAsia.
“Congratulations Nesthy! You definitely punched your mightiest to win this recognition for the Philippines. Your victory is an inspiration to everyone battling the pandemic to continue and never give up on the fight no matter what,” said AirAsia Philippines spokesperson Steve Dailisan.
AirAsia also pledged to give unlimited flights for two years for Filipino athletes who will bring home bronze from the quadrennial meet.
The rest of the Filipino athletes who competed in the Tokyo Olympics will be awarded three free round-trip tickets to any AirAsia domestic destination.
Earlier, Cebu Pacific awarded all Filipino athletes who participated in the Tokyo Olympics 25 flights each for free. – Rappler.com
