Rappler Talk: ‘Ako ay May Titi’ and writing children’s literature
In this episode of Rappler Talk, Rappler Opinion Editor Marguerite de Leon speaks with Genaro Gojo Cruz, the author of the new children’s book 'Ako Ay May Titi'

Children’s literature may seem easy to write, but it’s really the opposite. How do you translate complex concepts into something very young people can understand? And what if these complex topics are considered too private or taboo, especially in a country like the Philippines?

In this episode of Rappler Talk, airing Wednesday, August 19, at 5 pm, Rappler Opinion Editor Marguerite de Leon speaks with Genaro Gojo Cruz, the author of the new children’s book Ako ay May Titi, which is now on its second print run.

Genaro is an advocate of children’s literature, and has published more than 80 books for children. He teaches literature at De La Salle University and is the associate for children’s literature at the Bienvenido N. Santos Creative Writing Center.

His children’s stories have won prizes from the Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature, the PBBY-Salanga Writers Prize, Romeo Forbes Story Writing Contest, Gawad Panitikang Pangkalusugan, and Gig Book Storywriting Contest. He was hailed as Makata ng Taon in 2004 and 2007.
