MANILA, Philippines – Jimmy Fallon and The Roots shared the spotlight with Bono on the Madison Square Garden stage during a U2 concert on Wednesday, July 22.

The Late Show Starring Jimmy Fallon host was in the crowd holding up a sign that said “Singer with a broken finger,” referring to a recent hand injury, when U2 singer Bono invited him onstage. “I’m so lucky and honored to be here, in the greatest venue in the world, with the greatest band in the world,” said Jimmy before performing the song “Desire” with the band. 

 

“It’s not easy being Bono,” Jimmy said after “Desire.”

The crowd was in for another surprise, though. “I’ve got a few friends of mine I’d like to introduce you to,” said Jimmy as The Roots, the official band on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and award-winning musical group marched out. The Roots played U2’s “Angel of Harlem” with Jimmy and the group. 

Jimmy posted this photo on Instagram after the show, and recounted his experience on he Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
