VIENNA, Austria – On Wednesday, August 8, former California “governator” Arnold Schwarzenegger visited the Austrian village where he was born.

He is filming parts of an upcoming US television documentary on his life.

“People need to understand where I grew up and what was important in my upbringing and my life,” the 65-year-old Hollywood film actor and former Mr. Universe and Mr. Olympia bodybuilding champion said.

Schwarzenegger showed the crew from US network CBS around his two-storey childhood home in Thal in the southern state of Styria. Last July, it opened as a museum with around 1,000 exhibits including his very first weights and movie memorabilia.

The documentary is to accompany the release of his autobiography “Total Recall” in October (named after one of his many action films, and the title of the movie’s 2012 remake starring Colin Farrell).
