Valerie says she is happy for her former co-hosts' success in the 'Juan for All, All for Juan' segment of 'Eat Bulaga'

MANILA, Philippines – Miss World Philippines 2014 Valerie Weigmann recalled the excitement and the rush from last year’s Miss World Philippines competition as she now prepares to pass the crown to one of the 27 candidates vying for title on October 18.

In an interview with Rappler during the press presentation of Miss World Philippines at Solaire Tuesday, September 29, Valerie said: “It actually feels good. On one side kilig din. Kasi na fefeel ko din last year (I also felt that last year). So ‘syempre ako naman excited para sa kanila  (of course I very excited for them) and as far as I can, I’m trying to help them, trying to teach them the examples of being a beauty queen, the beauty for a purpose. So I’m excited for them.”

Aside from her duties as Miss World Philippines 2014, Valerie is also busy with her advocacies MusiKARAMAY and helping modernize the transportation system in the country.

“We are still going around for MusiKARAMAY. We’re still doing street music in different places like BGC.  I’m also working on my social enterprise which is EVEE-i. We have already 20 electric jeepneys running in Filinvest Alabang so I’m really busy with that right now. I’m really focusing on getting to having a business and learning more, talking to potential investors.

“Of course it’s not easy to get more investors, to convince them to give us money or funds for the advocacy, which is to modernize our public transport in the Philippines,” she said.

Plans after reign and ‘Eat Bulaga’

Asked about her plans after her Miss World Philippines reign, Valerie said she is considering her options. However, she still does hosting duties and modeling in between her busy schedule.

I’m still doing hosting in between. TV hosting not yet, since I still have to focus on Miss World Philippines. But yeah, maybe after the reign. I’m still open for it and I’m seeing the opportunities which will come up to me,” she said.

Valerie also expressed her happiness for the success of Eat Bulaga‘s AlDub tandem in the “Juan for All, All For Juan” segment.  Prior to becoming a beauty queen, Valerie also hosted the segment with Wally Bayola, Jose Manalo and Paolo Ballesteros, who is one of her good friends. “I’m happy all about the achievements [they’ve gotten] and they are always trending. I’m happy for them because I can see how much hard they are working. Not only the hosts but also the people behind “Juan for All” especially…I’m really excited when I see them on trending topics. It would be great for me to guest soon ,” she said.

She also has nothing but kind words for Wally, who has been a instrument in the success of the segment.

“Si Wally naman let’s give him credit. Siya naman talaga ang nag-start (He was really the one who started it) and he’s really good. And I’m really happy everything is going well and the tandem goes well.”

Although she rarely sees them due to her schedule, Valerie is grateful that Filipinos viewers love the show.

I’m always out but even when I’m at malls it’s always playing and I’m like ‘wow, grabe naman yung exposure nila (Wow, what great exposure they have). Kasi it’s really nice to see that all of us Filipinos are coming together to watch out for AlDub and Eat Bulaga. I mean it’s really nice that everyone is coming together now and enjoying the show,” she said.  – Rappler.com
