
MANILA, Philippines – As the country gears up for the 2016 national elections, candidates have started filing for their certificates of candidacy at the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) offices in the country.
On Friday, October 16, a number of celebrities continue to file thier certificates of candidacy for national and local positions.
Herbert Bautista, reelection, Quezon City mayor
Herbert Bautista is seeking a third term as Quezon City mayor. He will run alongside incumbent vice mayor Joy Belmonte.
Edu Manzano, running for senator, Independent
Edu wil try his luck once again in politics as he filed his COC for the Senate. He was accompanied by his children.
Isko Moreno, running for senator
From being vice mayor of Manila, Isko will try to seek a higher post as he runs for senator in next year’s elections.
Rey Langit, running for senator, UNA
Broadcaster Rey Langit filed his COC under Vice President Jejomar Binay’s party UNA.
Other candidates who filed include Angelica Jones as the Liberal Party’s bet for Vice Gov in Laguna and Dan Fernandez, who is running for Sta Rosa Mayor.
Meanwhile, Philstar.com reported that Governor Vilma Santos Recto filed her COC for congresswoman of Lipa City.
On Wednesday, October 14, the red carpet for candidates at COMELEC doubled as a red carpet for celebrities, the third day of filing of candidacies for public office.
Tito Sotto, running for reelection in the Senate
After hosting Eat Bulaga, Sen. Tito Sotto went to COMELEC with wife Helen Gamboa to file his certificate of candidacy for senator.
Mark Lapid, running for senator, Liberal Party
Mark, a one-time actor was accompanied by his father Sen. Lito Lapid and wife, actress Tanya Garcia.
Alma Moreno, running for senator, UNA
Alma Moreno is part of the United Nationalist Alliance senatorial slate.
Moreno, an actress and Parañaque City councilor, was joined by her actor-son Vandolf when she filed her COC for senator.
Joseph Estrada, running Manila mayor
Former President, a former actor and current Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada is aiming for a second term as mayor.
Andrea del Rosario, running for mayor, Calatagan. Batangas
Actress and Viva Hot Babe Andrea also filed her COC for the mayor post in Calatagan, Batangas.
In a TV Patrol report, other celebrities mentioned that filed their COCs were former beauty queen Daisy Reyes, who is running for mayor of Pateros-Rizal, Roderick Paulate for Quezon City councilor, Imelda Papin, who is running for congresswoman in Camarines Sur.
On Tuesday, October 13, had many celebrities aiming for local positions.
Jolo Revilla, running for vice governor, Cavite
Jolo is seeking another term as Vice Governor of the province with Governor Jonvic Remulla. His mother, Rep. Lani Mercado is seeking to run as mayor of Bacoor City, Cavite. She filed her COC on Thursday, October 14 according to a TV Patrol report.

Charee Pineda, running for reelection for councilor, Valenzuela

Alfred was accompanied by his wife Yasmin when filed his COC on Monday at Comelec

Meanwhile, some of the celebrities came with ther spouses or relatives to support them during the filing.
Senator Ralph Recto and Governor Vilma Santos
Ralph was accompanied by Vilma to file his certificate for his reelection on Wednesday afternoon with son Ryan Christian.
Kiko Pangilinan and Sharon Cuneta
Kiko, running for reelection as senator, was with wife Sharon Cuneta and kids accompanying him.
Angel Locsin and Rep. Neri Colmenares.
On Monday, Angel Locsin tagged along as her relative, Bayan Muna party-list Rep. Neri Colmenares, filed his COC for senator.
Couple Toni Gonzaga and Paul Soriano were also spotted at the rally for Bongbong Marcos, who is gunning for vice president. The photo taken by Manila Bulletin became a topic of conversation with some expressing their disappointment.
On Thursday, October 15, broadcaster Korina Sanchez accompanied husband, Liberal Party standard-bearer Mar Roxas and Rep. Leni Robredo in Intramuros. Robredo’s kids and Roxas’ mother were also present to give support.
Actress Heart Evangelista and Susan Roces accompanied Sen. Grace Poe and Chiz Escudero to COMELEC to file their COCs.
