MANILA, Philippines – Actor-singer Elmo Magalona has become the newest member of the ABS-CBN family, after signing a contract with the network on Thursday, November 26.
Elmo was accompanied by mom Pia. ABS-CBN bosses Cory Vidanes, Johnny Manahan of Star Magic, and Laurenti Dyogi were also in attendance.
Elmo will be co-managed by his mom and Star Magic.
Elmo’s sister Maxene congratulated her brother.

In an interview on ABS-CBN, Elmo said making the decision to transfer to ABS-CBN was not very difficult, though he admitted that the process took a while.
“It wasn’t hard at all because nagkasundo naman (we all agreed),” Elmo explained. “More on pinag-usapan po namin ni mom kasi (my mom and talked about it because) she manages me. It took a while. It was a thinking process pero naging (it became) mutual po ‘yung decision namin. ‘Yung offer po yung dumating (The offer came ) and I didn’t want to lose the opportunity.”
Elmo said that despite moving to ABS-CBN, he will always be grateful to GMA 7 for taking care of him.
As for his first show on his new network, Elmo said he’s looking forward to working with Janella.
“Kaka-meet ko lang kay Janella this week and it’s cool na pareho kami from a family of musicians (I just met Janella this week and it’s cool that we both come from a family of musicians),” he said.
Janella is the daughter of Miss Saigon veteran Jenine Desiderio and musician Juan Miguel Salvador. Elmo is the son of the late rapper Francis Magalona.
Meanwhile, Janella said in a press statement that she is looking forward to getting to know Elmo more.
“When I saw Elmo, I felt good because I will get to work with someone fresh since we haven’t worked before. I’m excited with the music angle in our teleserye because both our parents are musical people,” she said.
