MANILA, Philippines – Most Filipino children who liked watching television picked Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla as their favorite actress and actor, respectively.

This was part of the results of a recent study conducted by the National Council for Children’s Television (NCCT) among 4,395 Filipino school children below 18 years old enrolled in 209 public and private elementary and high schools all over the country.

The study, which tackled the television-viewing habits of children, was done late February to March 2015. (READ: Good or bad? Most Filipino children glued to teleseryes)

At the time of the survey, the movie Crazy Beautiful You featuring Bernardo and Padilla – collectively known as KathNiel – was recently shown in Philippine cinemas.

Around that time also, their television network ABS-CBN had been continuously promoting their television series (teleserye), Pangako Sa ‘Yo. The remake of the early 2000s television hit has been airing on prime time since May.

Aside from KathNiel, below are lists of the children’s other favorite actors and actresses:

“The children answered a total of 140 actors and 133 actresses from different ages (as old as the deceased Fernando Poe Jr and as young as Xyriel Manabat), despite the fact that the respondents are from Grades 3 to 10,” the study read.

The survey was conducted months before Eat Bulaga’s AlDub became a massive hit. The “kalye serye” segment in the noon time television show features one of the hottest love teams today: Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza, better known as Yaya Dub.

The NCCT study revealed that most children still prefer watching television when they get home from school. They usually watch during prime time (5 pm to 10 pm), and prefer watching teleseryes or adult-oriented shows.

Most of the children also watch television for close to 3 hours during weekdays and 6 hours during weekends. Both are beyond the internationally-prescribed daily television exposure of 1 to 2 hours. – Rappler.com
