Meet the new ‘Pilipinas Got Talent’ judges
Vice Ganda, Robin Padilla, Angel Locsin, join returning judge Freddie 'FMG' Garcia and share their thoughts on the 5th season of 'Pilipinas Got Talent'

MANILA, Philippines – The 5th season of Pilipinas Got Talent will air on Saturday, January 23, and expect honest criticism from the panel of judges composed of former ABS-CBN executive Freddie Garcia, actress Angel Locsin, action star Robin Padilla, and comedian Vice Ganda during the auditions.

Vice, who has been judging on segments of It’s Showtime said that he’s very excited to be part of the show. But for the competition, he’s looking for something special.

(As I’ve mentioned in the first interviews, [I want] an act who will affect me and who will touch my heart and my soul, not just for me to enjoy with my eyes and my ears.)

As for the discussions with the judges, Vice said: “Ready na ako magkaroon ng isang fun time with them. Fun experience ang gusto ko magkaroon dito sa PGT.”

(I’m ready to have fun with them. I’m really looking forward to the fun exeprience here in PGT.)

Meanwhile, Robin said that viewers should expect an exciting and bigger show this season. Pilipinas Got Talent is one of Robin’s first shows after returning to ABS-CBN last December.

Una, naniniwala ako ho na itong panibagong season 5 ay magiging mas exciting at mas magiging mahusay ang husgado at mas magagaling ang talento lalabas,” he said.

(First fo all, I believe that season 5 will be a more exciting and will have better judges and talents this season.)

Robin also said that he will support the aspirants in their quest to get their nod to be part of the show.

Ako po ay kakampi ng contestant. Ako ay hindi magiging masyadong mahigpit, hindi din naman ako magiging maluwag. Ako ay hindi magmamagaling. Sasabihin ko ang mga bagay na galing sa puso,” he said.

(I will be the contestant’s supporter. I will not be strict but I will not be too lenient also. I will not pretend to know everything. I will speak from the heart about what I see from them.)

Although he’s no stranger to being part of a reality show, having hosted Talentadong Pinoy on TV5, Robin admitted it won’t be easy being a judge this time.

Mas mahirap lang ito. Mas mahirap ito kasi yung host talagang balance ka. Ito kung sinong makikita mo dito na may potential, sorry na lang yung iba,” Robin said.

(This is more difficult. This is difficult because as a host you have to be balanced. In this case, who ever you see has the potential, the other aspirants will not matter anymore.)

Angel meanwhile said that her judging style is “mabait na may topak” (kind but a little offbeat) but is looking forward to giving people a chance.  For Angel, she is looking for a contestant with star quality.

Way back, nagkaroon din kasi ako ng opportunity na magpakita ng talent so may nagbigay sa akin ng chance. So ngayon gusto ko sana suklian kung ano man binigyan na chance sa akin nung tao,” she said. (Way back, I had the opportunity to show my talent to those who gave me a chance. So now, I want to pay it forward.)

Freddie Garcia or known as FMG in the industry has been a judge for the past seasons in the show. Aside from looking for a contestant with world class talent, the former ABS-CBN president said he’s looking forward to being with his co-judges.

Yun ang masaya kasi (That’s what excites me because) it’s going to be hilarious,” FMG said of his co-judges. “We have a new set of judges – we have Robin, Angel, and Vice Ganda. We had a rehearsal… and we have beautiful chemistry.”

Hosted by Billy Crawford and Luis Manzano, Pilipinas Got Talent has produced some talents such as Jovit Baldivino, Marcelito Pomoy, and Roel Manlangit. It also showcased talents such as Gerphil Flores, who went on to become a runner-up on Asia’s Got Talent. – Rappler.com
