MANILA, Philippines – Trent Harmon wins the 15th and final season of American Idol.
The two-part finale was held at the Dolby Theatre on April 7 (April 8 in the Philippines) and was hosted by Ryan Seacrest, who has hosted all 15 Idol seasons.
In 2nd place was La’Porsha Renae, while Dalton Rapattoni placed 3rd.
Trent sang “Falling,” written by Keith Urban (with Dallas Davidson and Brett James), after being announced the winner that night.
After the show, Trent took to American Idol’s Twitter account to thank his supporters, saying, “Thank you so much. With a capital ‘S,’ so much. I love you so much, I’m so blessed. Let’s go to work.”

The 15th season is the last for the iconic singing competition that has helped many musicians rise to fame – to name a few: Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, Adam Lambert, and Chris Daughtry, who have since become award-winning artists.
Filipino-Americans have also been discovered on American Idol. Among them are Jasmine Trias (season 3) and Jessica Sanchez (season 11), who placed 3rd and 2nd, respectively.
The two-hour finale had many Idol contestants performing medleys of songs throughout the night, including a David Bowie tribute. The original judges, Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and Randy Jackson also made an appearance on the Idol stage once more.
