Delamar to leave ‘The Morning Rush’

MANILA, Philippines – It’s the end of an era. After around 20 years of engaging avid listeners – “Rushers” – on weekday mornings over the radio, Delamar Arias is signing off for the last time from The Morning Rush on Monster Radio RX 93.1. 

The DJ’s last show will be on July 29, Friday next week. She was with the show since it first aired on July 8, 1996.

“The plan is that next week will be my last week on the morning rush,” said Delamar in her announcement, aired July 22, Friday, as heard in an audio recording on YouTube.

“I’m not going anywhere. I’m not migrating. I’m not going to another radio station. It’s not about that, but it’s going to be my goodbye week,” she added, even saying on Twitter that she would also not do another radio show.

“I’ve been trying to understand how to do it, and it’s hard to say goodbye to something that’s like, 20 years,” she added, saying that she has been mulling over her departure for the last year and a half.

During her announcement on the show, she did not mention the specific reasons for her exit. “The truth is that 2015 is when I wanted to leave already. I wanted to leave… mainly… we’ll tell you next week,” she said on the show.

When asked about what she feels as she goes into her final week on the show, Delamar told Rappler in a message over Twitter: “I just made the announcement this morning and I am overwhelmed with the response on Twitter.”

“Reading the tweets, I realize I have so much I want and need to say to my co-hosts and the listeners before I say goodbye. I’m not sad yet, I’m in shock.”

“I will miss the conversation between me, Chico and Gino and our listeners. I will miss that the most,” she said about what she would miss upon leaving.

Delamar’s message for The Morning Rush’s most avid listeners?

“I hope they tune in to the show next week. It will be a week long send off. We don’t know yet how exactly the show will go but we plan to have fun in the midst of the goodbye,” she said.

The Morning Rush is hosted by Delamar, along with Chico Garcia and Gino Quillamor. The award-winning radio show airs on Monday to Friday from 6 to 10 am, and every last Saturday of the month from 6 to 9 am. – Rappler.com
