Alden is set to play a Mulawin named Lakan in the fantasy series

MANILA, Philippines – After the announcement that Miguel Tanfelix would return to be a Mulawin on Encantadia, Alden Richards is also set to wear a pair of wings on the show.

In a report from 24 Oras, Wednesday, August 17, Alden is set to play a Mulawin – a half human, half bird creature – named Lakan. Lakan has sworn his loyalty to the fairies and has promised to fight for them.

“Happy naman ako kasi actually, growing up, lumaki ako na may Encantadia,” he said about the role. (I’m very happy because actually, I grew up with Encantadia.)

Alden has already been fitted for his costume, and he’s preparing for the role by getting into shape.

“Diet, kasi syempre yung costume hindi naman ganun ka… pag sinukatan tayo, slim na slim… Dapat fit din, buti na lang may konting background tayo sa working out at sa mga maaksyon na eksena,” he said.

(Diet because the costume is not…when they fit you, you have to be very slim. You have to be fit too, good thing I have a bit of background with working out and in some of the action scenes.)

Last week, the staff and stars of Encantadia gave a sneak peek of a Mulawin overlooking Lireo. In the Wednesday, August 17 episode, Pagaspas (Miguel Tanfelix) – a character from the original Mulawin (2004) series – came before Reyna Amihan (Kylie Padilla), after she called on the Mulawins for help by using a flute given to the Diwatas (fairies).
