Marion Cotillard responds to Brad Pitt cheating rumors

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Among the rumors flying about the reason for Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s split was that Brad cheated on Angelina with his Allied co-star Marion Cotillard. (READ: Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt release statements on divorce)

But on Thursday, September 22, Marion set the record straight – nothing happened between her and Brad. 

Her husband, Guillaume Canet, has also spoken about the issue on Instagram on Firday, September 23. The post, written in French, was translated by People. 

He said that even though he doesn’t usually speak about his private life, the rumors have pushed him to speak up about “the pride, love, respect and admiration I have for Marion staying as strong and intelligent in the face all these stupid and unfounded accusations.”

He continued, “I think we’re all living with much more important things at this moment and now it’s time to move on and raise the bar a bit. Even if there’s so much work for some, I want to be positive. And as Marion said so well I hope you get better and aspire to something in your life than constantly sending sh-t!” 

Je n’ai pas non plus l’habitude de commenter les rumeurs faites à notre sujet… Je n’ai pas non plus l’habitude de parler de ma vie privée, que jusqu’à présent j’ai toujours protégé avec beaucoup d’attention… Mais l’acharnement de la presse people, la bêtise vénale de certaines personnes se faisant appeler journalistes, la haine de certains internautes se sentant plus forts derrière un clavier, me poussent quand même à dire la fierté, l’amour, le respect et l’admiration que j’ai pour Marion, de rester aussi forte et intelligente face à toutes ces accusations débiles et non fondées. Je pense que nous vivons tous des choses autrement plus importantes en ce moment et que maintenant il serait temps de passer à autre chose et d’élever un peu le niveau. Même si il y a beaucoup de travail pour certains, j’ai envie d’être positif. Et comme dit si bien Marion je vous souhaite d’aller mieux et d’aspirer à autre chose dans votre vie que d’envoyer constamment de la merde !

A day earlier, in Marion’s Instagram post that was written in both French and English, she said: “This is going to be my first and only reaction to the whirlwind news that broke 24 hours ago and that I was swept up into. I am not used to commenting on things like this nor taking them seriously but as this situation is spiraling and affecting people I love, I have to speak up.”

“Firstly, many years ago, I met the man of my life, father of our son and of the baby we are expecting. He is my love, my best friend, the only one that I need,” continued Marion, confirming that she and her partner, French actor and director Guillaume Canet, are expecting a child. The couple has a son, Marcel, born in 2011.

“Secondly to those who have indicated that I am devastated, I am very well thank you. This crafted conversation isn’t distressing. And to all the media and the haters who are quick to pass judgment, I sincerely wish you a swift recovery.

“Finally, I do very much wish that Angelina and Brad, both whom I deeply respect, will find peace in this very tumultuous moment,” wrote Marion.

News that Angelina, 41, filed for a divorce from Brad, 52, broke on September 20. The actress cited irreconcilable differences and is seeking physical custody of their 6 children, 3 of whom are adopted.

TMZ, which first reported the news of the divorce, had said that it wasn’t due to a 3rd party.

The former couple began dating in 2004, and their divorce comes after two years of marriage. – Rappler.com
