Before she had to leave ‘X Factor UK,’ Pinoy Ivy Grace Paredes wowed judges one more time
Filipino Ivy Grace Paredes sings Whitney Houston's 'I Have Nothing' before withdrawing from the competition due to visa issues

MANILA, Philippines – Ivy Grace Paredes may not be moving on to the Judges Houses round of The X Factor UK, but she did wow the judges and earn a seat in the Six Chair Challenge. (READ: Filipino Ivy Grace Paredes withdraws from ‘X Factor’)

Ivy Grace sang Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing,” to a thunderous standing ovation at the SSE Arena, Wembley, which included the judges and the 6 contestants who were already seated onstage.

Judge Nicole Scherzinger said after Ivy’s performance, “I know why you left the Philippines. [It’s] because your voice is way too big for the Philippines alone. It is meant for the entire world to hear.”

“Is it the most original thing we’ve ever heard? No,” said Simon Cowell. “Is it exciting? Yes! Should you be in a chair? Yes!”

Sharon Osbourne, who was in charge of the Overs group that Ivy was a part of in the competition, gave Ivy the chair that fellow contestant Marianna Zappi occupied.

The chair meant Ivy got a spot in the next round of the competition, the Judges’ Houses. However, Ivy had to withdraw from the competition because she was unable to secure a US visa, which she needed to go to Sharon’s LA home.

Taking Ivy’s spot in the Overs category is rapper Honey G.

On Ivy leaving the competition, Sharon said in an article on the X Factor website, “I’m really disappointed that Ivy couldn’t continue in the competition but I really wish her well.”

The judge added that she chose Honey G to fill in Ivy’s spot because of her uniqueness: “I thought long and hard about who can take Ivy’s place in the competition and I have never received so many calls and texts about an auditionee before. She’s larger than life, she’s fun, she’s different to everyone else in this competition… and I love different.”

Honey G, on her part, expressed regret that Ivy couldn’t move foward in the competition, but is happy to be back: “I think Ivy’s voice is incredible and she’s very talented. She definitely would have gone very far in the competition if she had stayed. Obviously it’s a great shame she couldn’t progress but I’m very lucky and very happy to be back in the competition, a complete stroke of luck for me. I’m not just belting out an amazing voice; I am what is happening right now in the music scene. I’m the whole shebang.”

The 13th season of X Factor airs on RTL CBS Entertainment on Mondays and Sundays at 10:30 am.
