MANILA, Philippines – We’ve seen Johnny Depp play a guy with scissors for hands, a singing demon barber, a pirate, a candy-loving bully-hating candy-maker and a tourist, among the many other roles he has transformed himself into.

In 2013, Depp will be an Native American who’s the sidekick of a masked Lone Ranger.

On December 11, Disney released the full-length trailer of next year’s The Lone Ranger starring Armie Hammer, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Barry Pepper and Tom Wilkinson, among others.

The movie is based on a character that was highly popular in the 1940’s and ’50’s, introduced in 1933 in a radio show, according to Total Film.

The film is directed by Gore Verbinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. Together with Depp, this is the triad behind the successful Pirates of the Carribean film series.

The 2013 movie sees Hammer’s Lone Ranger forced to fight back when Wilkinson’s villainous Latham Cole seeks control over a railway that cuts a track “across the untamed West.”

The Lone Ranger opens in the US in July 2013. – Rappler.com
