MANILA, Philippines – Warner Bros. Pictures released the first full-length trailer of next year’s Superman reboot, Man of Steel, on December 12.

It shows a young Clark Kent struggling to control his powers with guidance from his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner). The trailer also shows scenes in what appears to be the icy Fortress of Solitude, the Planet Krypton on the brink of destruction and Metropolis with collapsing buildings.

We also catch glimpses of ace reporter and Kent’s love interest Lois Lane (Amy Adams), the Kryptonian villain General Zod (Michael Shannon) and Superman’s biological parents Jor-El (Russell Crowe) and Lara (Ayelet Zurer).

The movie is directed by Zack Snyder, who also directed comic book based-movies “Watchmen” and “300.” It is produced (and co-penned) by Christopher Nolan, who directed the critically-acclaimed Dark Knight trilogy.

Snyder has played coy about Man of Steel being the launchpad of the Justice League movie, much like 2008’s Iron Man was for Marvel’s The Avengers.

“I don’t know how Justice League is going to be handled. Honestly, I don’t,” Snyder said in an interview with the New York Post.

“But the Man of Steel exists, and Superman is in it. I don’t know how you’d move forward without acknowledging that.”

Man of Steel, starring Henry Cavill in the title role, is set for release in June 2013.
