Kim Chiu talks exploring Europe with Xian Lim
'Siyempre mas makikilala mo naman ‘yung isang tao ‘pag magkasama kayong bumiyahe,' says Kim

MANILA, Philippines – Kim Chiu and Xian Lim had the time of their lives exploring Europe over the holidays.

In an interview with Xian at the press conference for Paddington 2, which premieres on January 31, he shared that they had a couple of places they wanted to visit but eventually decided on Northern Europe because Kim wanted a white Christmas.

Nag-brainstorm kaming dalawa but the final say para sa akin was Kim. Kasi she wanted more of a white Christmas type of vacation,” he shared. (The two of us brainstormed over it but the final say for me was Kim. Because she wanted more of a white Christmas type of vacation.)

“We had a couple places na binisita namin (that we visited) so that’s something new and it’s something na nakakatakot  (scary) at the same time kasi (because) we don’t know what to expect. Pero ‘yung takot na ‘yun (But those fears) turned into something really fun and exciting. Seeing all the views, seeing everything unfold before our eyes, we saw our aurora borealis, we got to play in the snow. Ang dami! (We saw so much!) It’s just an experience.”

As fans saw on Instagram, the rumored couple made the most of their vacation, visiting as many places as their schedule permits. But for Kim, what made the trip even more memorable was discovering a different side to Xian.

Siyempre mas makikilala mo naman ‘yung isang tao ‘pag magkasama kayong bumiyahe (Of course, you get to know a person better when you travel together),” she said during the Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin finale press conference.

Nakita ko naman na ang haba ng pasensya niya. Okay siyang kasama. Sobrang pinagbibigyan niya ako, kung anong gusto kong gawin.” (I saw how patient he was. He’s okay to be with. He really gave in to me, whatever I wanted to do.)

Still, Kim and Xian have yet to put a label on their relationship. As much as they have opened their lives up to their fans, Kim explained that they still want to keep a few things to themselves.

She said: “Siguro naman sa mga post namin, basahin niyo na lang in between the lines. Kung ano ‘yung nangyayari. Siguro ganun na lang ‘yun. Happy naman ‘yun and okay naman ‘yun.” (I guess you can read in between the lines of our posts. Whatever is happening. I guess I’ll leave it at that. That’s happy and that’s okay.)

Just like their fans, Kim is also hoping that there will be project lined up for her and Xian in 2018. Their last movie together was All You Need is Pag-Ibig back in 2015.

Hopefully sana meron kaming project this year. Mahaba pa naman ‘yung taon.  January pa lang, ang layo pa ng December, so marami pa talagang mangyayari meron pang 11 months of the year.” (Hopefully we have a project this year. There’s still a lot of the year left. It’s still January and December is still far off, so there’s really a lot that could happen there’s still 11 months of the year left.)

Kim on working with Gerald

Meanwhile, Kim’s daytime drama series Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin will air its final episode on Friday, January 26. The show reunited her with her former boyfriend Gerald Anderson, as their last project was 24/7 in Love in 2012. At first, Kim was hesitant in accepting the role but now the actress couldn’t be happier that she took on the challenge. (READ: Kim Chiu, Gerald Anderson open up about breakup)

According to Kim, she took it upon herself to make sure that there’s no awkwardness on set: “Reach out din, para ma-break ‘yung ice. Wala nang stiff-stiff, mga ganyan.” (I reached out so we can break the ice. There’s no more stiffness between us.)(READ: Kim & Gerald on working together again in ‘Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin’)

Although it wasn’t easy, Kim was able to move past her personal issues and focus all her energy to work. Siguro as you mature, nase-set aside mo ‘yung mga issues. Parang ‘pag gusto mo ‘yung trabaho mo, mas mamahalin ka ng tabaho mo pabalik. Siguro ganun na lang yun,” she explained. (I guess as you mature, you’re able to set aside all the issues. If you love your work, your work will love you back. I guess it’s just that.)

Parang ako kasi gusto ko talaga umarte. Pangarap kong makita yung self ko sa TV. Hanggang ngayon. So parang, ayokong pahirapan ‘yung mga tao sa paligid namin and I’m very happy that the show ended good and well.” (I really want to act. I always dreamed of seeing myself on TV. That’s still my dream today. So I don’t want to give the people around me a hard time and I’m very happy that show ended good and well.)

Meeting Judy Ann Santos

Kim also shared that had one of the most “embarrassing and fulfilling moments” in her life was when she cried after meeting Judy Ann Santos at the Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes premiere. Kim recalled that she was too embarrassed to talk to the actress, but after some prodding from Bela Padilla, she finally had the courage to stand beside Judy Ann in a photo.

In a video, Kim was seen giddy with so much excitement that she started to tear up.

Si Bela kasi! Pinipigilan ko na ‘yung self ko. Nakasama ko na si Judy Ann first time nung may Maggi event kami. Wala namang tumutukso sa’kin or anything so ako talaga ‘yung ‘Kim, umayos ka.’

(It was Bela! I was already trying to control myself! I was with Judy Ann for the first time at the Maggi event. No one was teasing me or anything so, and I was like, ‘Kim get a grip.’ But that time, Bela was teasing me a lot and I just watched the movie and I was really emotional about it. When I saw her, I was so starstruck. I just cried for no reason.)

Kim added that Judy Ann has always been her “life peg.” She shared the actress left a lasting impression on her after she saw her on Mara Clara

“‘Di pa ko artista, lagi ko na sinasabi [na] idol ko talaga siya eh. Ang galing-galing niyang umarte, magpatawa, magpaiyak. ‘Yun yung nilo-look up [to] ko ‘pag umaarte ako.”

(I wasn’t an acress yet when I would say that she’s my idol. She’s so good at acting, making people laugh, and making them cry. She’s really who I look up to when I act.) – Rappler.com
