Netflix renews ‘The Society’ for season 2
The citizens of New Ham need answers!

MANILA, Philippines – We need answers, and hopefully, the upcoming second season of young adult dystopian drama The Society will finally shed some light on the gripping mysteries of New Ham.

Netflix announced on Tuesday, July 9 that The Society is being renewed for a second season, as shared by the show’s main cast.

Created by Chris Keyser, the series stars Kathryn Newton (Detective Pikachu, Big Little Lies) as Allie, a girl who takes leadership position after finding her town deserted and cut off from the rest of the world following a class field trip.

Dubbed as a modern take on the Lord of the Flies, the class has to survive under a strange, parent-free apocalyptic world and form their own government, systems, and classes.

The Society will return in 2020, with production scheduled to begin late 2019. Keyser will return as showrunner and executive producer, as well as Marc Webb, according to a Variety report.

The first 10-episode season was released on Netflix in May 2019, gaining generally positive feedback from critics (and a lot of fan theories). The Society also stars Gideon Adlon, Sean Berdy, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Jacques Colimon, Olivia DeJonge, Alex Fitzalan, Kristine Froseth, José Julián, and Alex MacNicoll. – Rappler.com
