MANILA, Philippines – Early-2000s kids have not been the same since a new Lizzie McGuire series was announced in August, and with star Hilary Duff’s latest update on the show, the news gets even better.
On the official Disney Facebook, Hilary announced via video that a special character would be joining her in the series: no less than Lizzie’s brainy, ever-loyal best friend Gordo, played by Adam Lamberg (who, it appears, hasn’t aged AT ALL).
“Fam’s not complete without me,” Adam said as he jumped into the frame. He then uttered one of the Lizzie McGuire series’ most memorable lines: “This is what dreams are made of.” Indeed, Adam.
Hilary also shared a photo with Adam on her Instagram.
Gordo was one of Lizzie’s two best friends in the show, and towards the end of the series developed real feelings for Lizzie – which culminated in a kiss at the end of the Lizzie McGuire Movie.
Lizzie’s other best friend – snarky, sassy Miranda – was played by LaLaine, though there’s no word yet if she will be joining the new project too.
Joining Hilary and Adam on the cast are Hallie Todd, Robert Carradine, and Jake Thomas, who are reprising their roles from the original series as Lizzie’s mom, dad and brother.
The new Lizzie McGuire series will follow the life of an all-grown-up Lizzie just before she turns 30. She is now living in New York City, working as an interior design assistant and in a relationship with her dream guy.
No release date has been announced yet, but the show will stream on Disney’s newly released video-on-demand service, Disney+. – Rappler.com
