MANILA, Philippines – Jake Ejercito, son of former President and Manila mayoral candidate Joseph “Erap” Estrada, is back from London to help his father with his election campaign.

Jake told ABS-CBN News in a story posted April 2: “Kababalik ko lang last week. Busy ako sa pagtulong sa tatay ko (I just arrived last week. I’m busy helping my dad).”

This is not Jake’s first time on political rounds with his father.

In September 2012, he told ABS-CBN News: “I grew up going around with my dad during election period, campaigning, so I’m quite used to it.”

During the oath-taking ceremony for new members of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) led by his father, Jake was present to give full support to the party’s candidates for the May 2013 elections.

The son of Estrada with retired actress Laarni Enriquez, Jake had his share of the showbiz limelight when he was romantically linked to actress Andi Eigenmann. The two broke up last November but remain friends.

Politics ‘in the blood’

Jake revealed in the same interview that a future in politics is definitely something he is considering.

“I’m taking up political science with business management in London, so public service is in the blood for sure. Definitely something to do with public service, in that line.” – With reports from Pia Ranada/Rappler.com
