MANILA, Philippines – Another wave of 90s nostalgia is headed to the internet with the new adaptation of the classic book series The Baby-Sitters Club premiering soon.
Netflix recently released the trailer for the upcoming show, which brings the iconic baby-sitters from the 90s to the present day.
In the trailer, we meet the OG BSC: Kristy Thomas (Sophie Grace), Mary Anne Spier (Malia Baker), Claudia Kishi (Momona Tamada), Stacey McGill (Shay Rudolph), and Dawn Schafer (Xochitl Gomez).
As in the original books by Ann M Martin, the girls start a baby-sitting business, where parents who need someone to watch their kids are able to call one number and reach all 5 baby-sitters. Unlike the books though, the show is set in the present day – at some point in the trailer, Claudia and Kirsty stare at a landline phone and wonder if it still works.
In the ultimate nod to the 90s, Alicia Silverstone (of Clueless fame) returns to play Kristy’s mom Elizabeth Thomas-Brewer.
The 10-episode first season of The Baby-Sitter’s Club is set to premiere on Netflix on July 3. – Rappler.com
