MANILA, Philippines – On April 20, Marvel released the official poster of “Thor: The Dark World,” the second movie that centers on the Asgardian god-Avenger played by Chris Hemsworth.
In an interview with USA Today, Marvel president of production Kevin Feige had this to say about the solo image:
“It doesn’t get much badder than Chris Hemsworth as Thor. It’s rare that you have a poster that is just Chris Hemsworth shooting on the set, but he just looks like Thor.
“We just put in some lightning, and he’s got his hammer and you’re there. It’s just an incredibly striking image.”
The poster was taken while the crew was filming for the movie, set for worldwide release on November 8.
According to Geek Tyrant, “Thor: The Dark World” happens “in the aftermath” of the first Thor movie and “The Avengers”:
“Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.”
Here’s a behind the scenes peek:
“Thor: The Dark World” is directed by Alan Taylor of “Game of Thrones” fame. It brings back Thor’s love interest Jane Foster (played by Natalie Portman) and his troublesome brother Loki (played by Tom Hiddleston).
Christopher Eccleston plays Thor’s new foe Malekith.
The first trailer for the movie is set for release on the week of April 22. – Rappler.com
