MANILA, Philippines – The manhunt following the April 15 (April 16 MNL) Boston Marathon bombings led to the temporary suspension of shooting for the David Russell film “American Hustle,” according to HollyWire.com.
One of the most talked about films in production, “American Hustle” stars Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, and Robert De Niro (power-houses from “Silver Linings Playbook,” also directed by Russell). “The Fighter” cast members Christian Bale and Amy Adams are also part of the cast (“The Fighter” is another Russell film).
“American Hustle” is about the ABSCAM sting operation of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) that led to the conviction of several US government officials including a senator.
Cast and crew were filming in the Boston area that week but had to stop shooting after the Governor of Massachusetts asked Bostonians to stay indoors for their own safety.
Now that bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is in police custody, perhaps the film’s production will get back on track in the next few days.
On April 18 (April 17 MNL), Bradley Cooper visited a Boston Marathon bombing survivor in the Boston Medical Center. The survivor, Jeff Bauman Jr, lost both legs below the knee during the explosions but was still able to smile for a photo with the actor. – With reports from Pia Ranada/Rappler.com
