MANILA, Philippines – The two divas of American Idol Season 12 won’t be back for another season.

Tweets revealed that pop icon Mariah Carey and rapper Nicki Minaj—whose onscreen rivalry on “Idol” often stole the show—will leave the judges’ panel after only one season.

PMK-BNC, the celebrity publicity firm that manages Carey tweeted that the AI judge will push through with her world tour and will have to bid the talent show goodbye.

“American Idol” producers and Fox Network executives seemed to accept her departure gracefully, releasing a statement that reads: “Mariah Carey is a true global icon –one of the most accomplished artists on the planet—and we feel extremely fortunate that she was able to bring her wisdom and experience to the ‘American Idol’ contestants this season. We know she will remain an inspiration to ‘Idol’ hopefuls for many seasons to come.”

Nicki Minaj also made it clear on Twitter that Season 12 will be her first and last season as an AI judge. She says that leaving the show will allow her to focus on making more music.

According to USA Today, Fox Network also wished Minaj the best.

Carey and Minaj joined country singer Keith Urban and music producer Randy Jackson on the judges’ panel of the recently-concluded 12th season of the show. Their departure comes after Jackson’s. – Rappler.com
