MANILA, Philippines- Filipino-American cellist Raymond Sicam has realized his “childhood dream” of performing with Celine Dion.
The 28 year old cellist did a rendition of the Ike and Tina Turner hit “River Deep Mountain High” with the Canadian pop superstar. He is so far the only Filipino-American appearing in Dion’s show at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
“It was kind of a childhood dream,” Sicam told ABS-CBN’s North America Bureau.”I loved her music when I was a kid and when she had her other show, ‘A New Day,’ I was in high school then and I really was interested on how to be a musician in the show.”
Sicam remembers “they didn’t have string players” in the show. “So now, with the show, it was an opportunity for me to audition. It was amazing that I got the job.”
The cellist has been playing the instrument since he was 10.
