MANILA, Philippines – With Hillary Clinton’s widely expected 2016 presidential candidacy, NBC is set to create a 4-hour miniseries about the former First Lady and US Secretary of State, reports Today.
“Hillary” will be written by Academy Award nominee Courtney Hunt and will star Diane Lane, also a past Oscar nominee. The miniseries will trace Clinton’s life from her husband’s second term as US president to the present.
NBC Chairman Bob Greenblatt clarifies that the 4-hour series is not based on any book and that Clinton is in no way involved with the project.
He describes Clinton as “one of the most fascinating women of our time,” an even more interesting public figure, given her much anticipated candidacy in the next presidential race.

Greenblatt, however, does not expect an announcement from Clinton for another two years, and says the series would have aired way before the next campaign period.
In 2008, “Hillary: The Movie,” a documentary criticizing the politician, was released. The film was taken to the high court and stirred debate regarding freedom of speech and election campaign laws.
