MANILA, Philippines – “It’s a 3 stars and a sun sweep,” went Hip Hop International’s Facebook announcement.
3 Philippine hip-hop crews are among the top dance teams set to compete in this year’s World Hip-Hop Dance MegaCrew semi-finals to be held at Red Rock Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, USA, on August 10.
2012 MegaCrew 4th placers, La Salle Dance Company (LSDC-Street) blazed to the top spot with a score of 8.87. UP Street Dance, who won 3rd place last year’s MegaCrew competition, came in second with 8.78. In 3rd place, with a score of 8.72, is the Philippine Allstars — champions in the 2006 and 2008 Adult division.
The Philippine Allstars also placed 3rd in the Hip Hop International Adult World Dance prelims with a score of 8.37.
Philippine team The Crew took home the gold last year for the Adult division.

The 3 Pinoy crews are among the 18 hip-hop groups from across the globe that will compete in the MegaCrew semi-finals. The Philippine teams will battle dancers from the UK, the US, Australia, Canada, Japan, South Africa, and other nations.
A post on LSDC-Street’s Facebook page expresses gratitude, excitement, and support for the other two Filipino crews.
“We are in awe and amazement. We feel blessed to have made it to the finals ranking 1st out of 38 teams around the world, but feel even MORE blessed that we stood on that stage along with the two other Philippine Megacrew teams as the top 3!!!” reads the post.
UP Street Dance and the Philippine Allstars also expressed Filipino pride.
