‘Glee’s’ Lea Michele wins at Teen Choice

MANILA, Philippines – “Glee” star Lea Michele won the Choice TV Comedy Actress at the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday night, August 11.

The “Glee” star was teary eyed as she accepted this honor, reports mashable.com.

She dedicated this award to her boyfriend and “Glee” co-star, Cory Monteith, who died of a fatal mix of heroin and alcohol at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver on July 13.

Monteith was 31.

“I wanted to dedicate this award to Cory for all of you who loved and admired Cory as much as I did,” Michele said, raising her hands to her heart during her 65-second speech.

“So whether you knew him personally or just as Finn Hudson, Cory reached out and he became a part of all of our hearts, and that’s where he’ll stay forever.”

Her remarks drew expressions of sympathy on social media, reminiscent of the outpouring of grief following Monteith’s death.

Monteith is best known for his lead role as Finn Hudson in “Glee,” the football jock who risks his popular image when he joins his high school’s glee club, being at the bottom of the campus hierarchy.

It is a role with a resonant social subtext in which the actor also developed as a singer.

An autopsy confirmed on July 16 that Monteith died of “a mixed drug toxicity [that] involved heroin, primarily, and also alcohol.”
