MANILA, Philippines – The hit talent search “Talentadong Pinoy” will hold its fourth and final grand showdown on August 18 at the Cuneta Astrodome, in search for the “Ultimate Talentado.”

The finalists includes Sor Apao from Davao, Laserman JB dela Cruz, contortionist Larvae, jazz singer Rina Forbes, Talentadong Pinoy Middle East winner Haina Udin, fusion dance group Nocturnal Dance Company, and Chinese yo-yo trick master Spyro Marco.

“Talentadong Pinoy” host Ryan Agoncillo has confirmed that the show will not be renewed for another season.

Ryan has expressed his disenchantment over the show’s termination in an interview with entertainment journalists.

“To tell you honestly, the decision of the management to cancel our show sucks. That’s what I feel, you know.

“But it’s beyond my pay grade to decide what happens to the program.

“I’m being paid to give you a hell of a show on Sunday and that’s what I’m concentrating on.

“But, really, I don’t agree with the decision. But after that, siguro wala na akong masasabi pa [I have nothing more to say].”

Closing with a bang

Ryan said he hasn’t considered any offers yet because he wants to focus his energy on the show’s grand finals night.

He also disclosed that his contract with TV5 had expired since January, which makes him a freelance talent.

“I’ve been refusing to talk with anyone, even my current bosses, because I really want to concentrate on the show on August 18.

“Because for me and the staff, I think iisa lang naman yung pakiramdam namin [we all feel the same way].

“And we’re really concentrating on this one because for us, this is an end of an era…wherein we believe that little people can slay giants.”

“Talentadong Pinoy” began airing in 2008 and soon enough went up the ratings.

The show led to other reality-talent shows or segments such as in ABS-CBN’s “It’s Showtime.”

“The 5 years of Talentadong Pinoy represented, for us, not just a show,” said Ryan.

“For 8 months, walang pumansin sa [nobody paid attention to the] show when it first aired. Struggle talaga to get everyone’s attention.

“And then, we hit it and when we did, it was good while it lasted.

“And now, it’s still an important show. We’re not bowing down to anyone and it’s our decision to end the show on our terms.

“So whatever happens, kung sino man ang maging amo namin [whoever will be our boss] after this, abangan n’yo na lang [just wait and see].”

CELEBRITY JUDGES. Jose Javier Reyes, Alice Dixson, and Jon Lapus

Just like Ryan, many celebrities who became part of “Talentadong Pinoy’s” panel of judges were just as sad that the show comes to a close this Sunday.

Among the past celebrity-judges are Eula Valdes, Tuesday Vargas, Audie Gemora, Dawn Zulueta, Amy Perez, Mr. Fu, Alessandra de Rossi, Ruffa Gutierrez, Lucy Torres-Gomez, Shalala, Gladys Guevarra, and renowned director-screenwriter Jose Javier Reyes.
