MANILA, Philippines – Is an ‘Idol’ shocker on the way?
If entertainment website TMZ is to be believed, we might have another ‘Jennifer Hudson moment,’ after they reported that “one of the absolute favorites” to win the competition will be eliminated Thursday, April 12 (Friday, April 13 in Manila).
“Sources connected with the show tell TMZ … producers are scrambling to persuade the judges to use their “save” on the contestant,” referring to the power of the three judges – Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez, and Randy Jackson – to save one contestant from elimination, which could only be done once in a season.
This information comes right before the weekly elimination show. On Wednesday, April 11 (Thursday, April 12 in Manila) the top 7 contestants performed songs from the current decade.
TMZ said “2 of the 3” contestants in the bottom are considered to be contenders to win the current season.
“[They] are as stunned over the vote as they were when Jennifer Hudson was kicked off the show,” TMZ reported.
The site referred to the Season 3 surprise elimination of Hudson, who was at the bottom 3 along with finalist LaToya London and eventual winner Fantasia Barrino, who later went on to become a Grammy- and Oscar-winning artist.
Hudson’s season 3 elimination was also during the top 7 round.
Among the frontrunners seen in the current season is Filipino-Mexican-American Jessica Sanchez. – Rappler.com
