Marian Rivera bags artist awards in Vietnam
MANILA, Philippines – Filipino actress Marian Rivera was named Best Foreign Artist of the Year and Face of the Year in the Today TV Awards held January 8 in Vietnam, reported Pep.ph.
In an Instagram post the following day, the actress thanked the Vietnamese audience for their support. The awards were reportedly chosen through a public vote and results were announced December 2013.
The actress, who was unable to attend the awarding ceremony due to conflict in schedule, posted a message to Vietnamese fans talking about how much the awards mean to her.
"My most gracious thanks to the Vietnamese audience for giving me the honor of being your Best Foreign Artist of the Year," said Rivera.
"It means so much to me that the Vietnamese have enjoyed my performances and my work. I will always strive to be even better to deserve your support. Hen Gap Cac ban...To I - Yu Cac Ban Vietnam."
Several Filipino actresses have been recognized by foreign award giving bodies in the past year.
Rivera was among other Filipino nominees Lorna Tolentino, who came highly commended for the Best Actress award and Kris Aquino, who was nominated for the best Entertainment Presenter/Host.
In October, comedienne Eugene Domingo also earned international acclaim as Best Actress in the 2013 Tokyo International Film Festival for the film Barber's Tales.
Last September, Pinoy child star Sandy Talag won an Outstanding Achievement in Acting award at the 2013 Oaxaca Film Festival in Mexico for film Lilet Never Happened. – Rappler.com
