MANILA, Philippines – Fans of Oscar-winning animator Hayao Miyazaki were devastated after he announced his retirement from feature-length movies in September 2013. Several tributes popped out all over the Internet but the biggest and what is slated to be the most popular tribute to him yet will be coming from one of TV’s longest-running shows – The Simpsons.

The Telegraph reported that the upcoming episode of The Simpsons will be a tribute to the animator.

A preview of the episode posted online features well-loved characters from his different films. Catbus from “My Neighbor Totoro” is seen in the preview, played by Simpsons character Otto. Moe is also seen playing scarecrow Turnip-Head, while the Kwik-E-Mart is turned into the castle from “Howl’s Moving Castle.” No-Face and the Haku Dragon of “Spirited Away” also make an appearance.

Miyazaki is is a Japanese film director, animator, manga artist, illustrator, producer, and screenwriter. He has a career in animation spanning over 60 years. He founded Studio Ghibli, a Japanese animation film studio, in the late 80s with fellow animator Isao Takahata.

His last film, The Wind Rises, has already won several awards internationally including Best Animated Film in the National Board of Review.
