Karylle, Yael Yuzon to wed in March

MANILA, Philippines – After Drew Arellano and Iya Villania married on January 31 and after Aiza Seguerra proposed to girlfriend Liza Diño on February 7, another celebrity couple is set to tie the knot.

“Next month, we wed, and the new chapter begins,” said actress and singer Karylle, confirming her engagement to Spongecola vocalist Yael Yuzon.

Karylle Tatlonghari, better known as Karylle, announced the engagement by giving a speech on noontime show Showtime on Saturday, February 8.

Karylle told the public how the “happiest and most exciting” chapter in her life started some 3 and a half years ago, after joining Showtime and meeting Yuzon.

It was a “sunny afternoon,” she said of the day she and Yuzon became a couple. “Kumain kami sa Mister Kebab kasi mahilig po ako sa kanin, and after that we had coffee. And ‘yun, sinagot ko siya,” she narrated. (We ate in Mister Kebab because I like eating rice, and after that we had coffee. And then I said yes to being a couple.)

The actress and singer went on to thank her Showtime co-hosts Vice Ganda, Anne Curtis, Vhong Navarro, Jhong Hilario, Billy Crawford, Coleen Garcia, among others. Karylle enumerated both big and little lessons she has learned from them in the past.

But most importantly, she said towards the latter part of her speech, she thanked Kim Atienza for pointing out her tendency to be a “high-maintenance girlfriend,” which she said helped her become a better girlfriend as well as a better person.

Ultimately, Karylle said these people and “angels” in her life have helped her reach “the next level.”

“Ang dami pong nagmamahal sakin (A lot of people love me), and I don’t know why, but I love them all too and I’m very very grateful for all of you. Thank you all for helping me reach the next level,” she said, announcing her upcoming wedding in March.

What followed were words of congratulations as well as a serenade by her Showtime co-hosts. Some of them also took to social media to congratulate the couple.

According to Manila Bulletin, also among those who are happy about the engagement are Karylle’s ex-boyfriend actor Dingdong Dantes and his current girlfriend actress Marian Rivera. In separate interviews before the announcement, the two told the press that they are happy for Karylle.

News of the couple’s engagement became a discussed topic in December of last year, but the couple neither confirmed nor denied it.

As early as May in the previous year, Karylle’s mother actress and singer Zsa Zsa Padilla told ABS-CBN that she is ready should her daughter decide to marry. She said that she believes her daughter is capable of making her own decisions. – Rappler.com
