Shia LaBeouf’s red carpet accessory: statement paper bag

MANILA, Philippines – Shia LaBeouf is not famous anymore. This, the former child star declared when he posed with a paper bag over his head bearing the same words on the red carpet of his latest film’s premiere in The Berlin International Film Festival, reported E! News.

LaBeouf also took to Twitter to reiterate his point. Even before his red carpet statement, the 27-year-old’s tweets from January 13 to the present read the same phrase in all caps, “I AM NOT FAMOUS ANYMORE.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, LaBeouf, who was missing a bottom tooth, also walked out 10 minutes into the press conference for the same film Nymphomaniac, when asked about the film’s numerous sex scenes.

To the crowd’s surprise, he walked away, but not before answering the question.

“When the seagulls follow the trawler, it’s because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea. Thank you very much,” he said before making an exit.

The phrase, according to E! News, is a quote from French soccer legend Eric Cantona in the film Looking for Eric. The actor, however, did not elaborate on what the line had to do with the question.

According to the Nymphomaniac site, the film, directed by Lars Von Trier, is a drama film about a woman’s life from birth to age 50. The story is divided into 8 chapters about the “lushly branched out and manufactured” story of her life, and true to its name, the film does feature several explicit sex scenes.

Infamous

While LaBeouf has been denouncing his fame, he’s also been in the center of controversy. 

A month ago, the actor was in the center of a plagiarism controversy regarding his 2012 film directoral debut HowardCantour.com. According to Time, It wasn’t until December 2013, after the film was posted online, when the public noticed that it was almost an exact adaptation of graphic novel Ghost World.

Time reported that his apology for copying the work appeared to be plagiarized, in the same way he seemed to have plagiarized his apology to Alec Baldwin for quitting a Broadway show early 2013.

According to the report, the actor’s self-published books Let’s F*cking Party and Stale N Mate were also not his original creations. Again, his apologies appeared to be lifted from famous celebrities including Tiger Woods, Kanye West, and Mark Zuckerberg. – Rappler.com
