Aiza asked Liza’s daughter for okay before engagement

MANILA, Philippines – Singer Aiza Seguerra and Liza Diño have the support of those closest to them, when it comes to their recent engagement and upcoming wedding. 

In an interview aired on GMA 7 talk show Startalk on February 16, Seguerra’s girlfriend also said that Seguerra asked for everyone’s blessing before popping the question, including her 5-year-old daughter’s.

Diño narrated, “Tinanong niya ‘yung daughter ko, sabi niya (She asked my daughter, she said), ‘So if Baba (her daughter’s name for Seguerra) asks Mommy, to marry her, are you gonna say yes? Is it okay with you?’ She said yes.”

‘Sobrang supportive’

In the same interview, Seguerra, who popped the question last February 7, said she had doubts about telling her family for fear of getting a “violent reaction” from her them. But their reaction showing support, surprised her.

“Nagulat ako when I told them, I spoke to my family, and ang tanong lang nila sa’kin ay, ‘Sa tingin mo ba handa ka na?’ Sabi ko oo. Sobrang very supportive.” (I was surprised when I told them, all they asked me was, ‘Do you think you’re ready?’ I said yes. Very supportive.)

Seguerra told ABS-CBN in 2012 that coming out to her parents over 6 years ago “took a lot of guts.” She said she drifted apart from her parents after she told them she was a lesbian, but she later realized that it was her attitude towards them that caused conflict.

She said that her parents and brother “love her for who she is.”

Pagdating ng panahon

Seguerra said her song “Pagdating ng Panahon” is perfect for their story.

“Every word talagang sumakto, I never thought that things like this happen pala,” she said.

The two once became a couple in their teenage years. Seguerra said they were both young and still confused about many things back then. She went on to narrate how they lost contact for 13 or so after their break-up.

Diño said that while they did not end on good terms, their time apart made them realize how important they are to each other.

According to the report, the couple celebrated their one year anniversary on January 8. It wasn’t until September 2013, however, when the couple announced their relationship to the public.

On February 7, Seguerra proposed to Diño while the actress was performing in a stage play in UP Diliman. It turns out, the whole play was part of the proposal.

Diño was in awe at the plan saying Seguerra “conspired” with her college professors in UP. According to her, they made it seem as if she was part of a real fundraising play.

The two are set to wed in the US early next year.

Seguerra told Startalk that she is excited for their wedding. She said she spends her downtime looking for venues and sharing details and ideas with Diño. – Rappler.com
