Jolina Magdangal, Mark Escueta welcome baby boy Pele Iñigo

MANILA, Philippines – Actress Jolina Magdangal and musician Mark Escueta welcomed their baby boy on the afternoon of Tuesday, February 18 at the Asian General Hospital, reported Pep.ph.

According to the report, the baby boy, named Pele Iñigo Escueta, was borth through c-section.

Escueta, in a text message sent to Pep.ph, said they had originally planned on having a check-up and ultrasound on that day, but seeing that the actress’ amniotic fluid was lessening, Magdangal’s doctor decided to go with a ceasarean procedure.

“Malikot siya agad at umiiyak pag labas niya… Tuwang-tuwa yung doctors and nurses kasi ang puti daw ni Pele,” said Escueta of his newborn. (He was already moving a lot and crying when he came out… The doctors and nurses were delighted because of his fair skin.)

The couple’s anticipation for the birth of their first child kicked into high gear last February 1, with a “waiting for our baby” countdown on social media. Magdangal and Escueta took to Instagram to document their waiting period, dubbing it “Peleserye.”

Magdangal’s last Instagram post before giving birth was marked “waiting for our baby” day 18. The photo her hand with an IV injection, captioned “Goodafternoon Swero! (IV injection) Today is “waiting for our baby” Day 18. We are still waiting. More contractions but still less pain. One of Escueta’s recent posts is an Instagram video of Magdangal’s ultrasound, dated November 7, 2013.

The Rivermaya musician captioned the video, “Pele’s Apartment. November 7, 2013. Fully furnished, with jacuzzi.”

According to Pep.ph, the couple met at a studio’s canteen after Escueta offered Magdangal the last order of saging na saba (sweetened banana).

“Nasa canteen kami kung saan ‘yung rehearsal ng show. Unang-una ako sa pila. Isa na lang yung serving ng saging na saba,” said Escueta. (We were at the canteen of the rehearsal venue. I was first in line. There was only one serving of sweetened banana.)

Magdangal continued, “Sabi niya, ‘Sige-sige, sa ‘yo na lang.’ Ako naman, ‘ay, thank you’ naman.” (He said, ‘Go ahead, it’s yours.’ I said, ‘oh, thank you.’)
